About Turkey Red

Nourishing Our Community Through Farm-to-Table Excellence

Established on April 1, 2008, Turkey Red has been a cornerstone of Palmer's culinary scene. With a mission to nourish our friends and neighbors, our locally owned and operated restaurant stands as a testament to what community and quality food can accomplish together.

Why "Turkey Red"?

The name "Turkey Red" pays homage to a type of wheat, underscoring our commitment as a bakery that freshly produces breads and pastries every day. Our emphasis on quality doesn't stop there; we also craft soups, salads, appetizers, and entrées for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all made from scratch.

Local First, Always

In 2012, an astounding 71% of our food purchases came from local Alaskan businesses, and more than a quarter of our produce was sourced from our own region. We prioritize locally sourced ingredients, not just for their freshness and flavor, but to uplift the local economy and minimize environmental impact.

Service from the Heart

Our well-trained staff offers more than service; they provide an experience. Knowledgeable about every aspect of our sourcing and preparation, they ensure that our top priority is always you: our valued guest.

A Commitment Beyond Food

Our founder, Alex Papasavas, first arrived in Alaska in 1997 and quickly fell in love with the community. Over the years, her passion for sustainable and delicious food translated into everything Turkey Red stands for. This year marks our 15th anniversary, and our commitment to sustainability and community has only grown stronger. Our quest for efficiency led us to install solar panels, reduce energy consumption, and keep striving for a positive environmental impact.

A Note from Our Community

Our greatest honor comes from the community that surrounds us, contributing to Turkey Red with fresh produce, unwavering support, and a shared appreciation for delicious, wholesome food. It's a symbiotic relationship — Turkey Red is not just a restaurant; it’s a gathering place that celebrates community, sustainability, and the joy of sharing great food.
