The history of Turkey Red:

Turkey Red is the name of the first hard winter wheat (used for breads) that was successfully grown in the U.S. by the Mennonites in 1874. It is considered the grandfather of all other hybrid winter wheat varieties now grown in the U.S. We chose our name because of the history behind the name and the connection to food.
